10 STEPS TO DIY MINI WINTER HAT GARLAND

Step 1.jpg

1. Cut paper towel roll into strips. Don’t worry if they flatten while you are working with them, they will take better shape later on. Cut one strip for each hat you plan to make.

Step 2.jpg

2. Cut approximately 40 pieces of yarn for each hat you plan to make. The yarn should be between 7-8 inches long.

3. You will loop the cord in half and place the closed end of the loop under the strip, pulling the loose ends up over the strip and through the closed end of the loop. Pull the closed end of the loop down to complete the knot.

5. Here’s a good example of how close you will want to pull them together.

4. And repeat. Keep pulling the knots close together as you work your way around.

7. Finish pulling the yarn through and gently straighten it back out with your fingertips

6. Now, you will want to flip the yarn inside out.

8. Using a piece of yarn, tie a loop around the strands to form the shape of a hat. You can tie it once and then loop it around to tie a second time, pulling tight.

9. Trim the yarn and gently brush out the pom-pom with a comb or dog brush

10. Pulling string through the back portion of the hat as pictured, string your hats with wooden beads or other decorative accents of your choosing.

One of my favorite ways to add seasonal touches to our RV decor is to choose lightweight items that are easy to pack away in the off-season.

In addition to these, I will choose a couple of sentimental items to mix in – so we have a blend of “RV decor” items and things that make us feel even more in touch with the holiday spirit.

Thank you for checking out our blog! If you found this DIY through Pinterest – we have a few more that you might be interested in.
